On the morning of April 7, a delegation from European University Cyprus (EUC), including former EUC President Prof. Kostas Gouliamos—recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award—Dean of the Faculty of Sciences Prof. Panagiotis Papageorgis, President’s Assistant Liu Jiting, and Director of the China Office Luo Yinglu, visited Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT) for an exchange symposium. The meeting was held at Ganlin Pavilion on Xianlin Campus, with NJUPT President Prof. Ye Milan and Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee/Vice President Prof. Liu Qingshan attending and delivering speeches.

President Ye Milan warmly welcomed the EUC delegation, noting that this visit marked both a continuation and elevation of their previous fruitful collaboration. She emphasized the strong complementarity between the two universities in discipline development and talent cultivation, expressing high expectations for the upcoming joint laboratory. “This is not merely the establishment of a physical space but also a platform for technological innovation and cultural exchange,” she said.

　　Prof. Kostas Gouliamos remarked emotionally, “Promoting cooperation between our universities during the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the EU carries special historical significance.” He praised NJUPT’s outstanding achievements in information technology and looked forward to elevating their partnership to new heights under the Belt and Road education cooperation framework.

　　During the subsequent thematic discussions, the two sides reached multiple consensus points. Vice President Liu Qingshan highlighted that “medical-engineering interdisciplinary research, as a golden intersection for technological innovation, aligns with China’s ‘Healthy China’ strategy and presents a unique opportunity for specialized universities like ours to accelerate development.” Prof. Panagiotis Papageorgis, Dean of EUC’s Faculty of Sciences, added, “Combining NJUPT’s engineering strengths with our medical expertise will undoubtedly yield a synergistic effect where one plus one exceeds two.”

　　Following the meeting, President Ye Milan and Prof. Kostas Gouliamos jointly unveiled the International Joint Laboratory for Medical-Engineering Interdisciplinary Research. This research platform will pool top resources from both universities, break down technical barriers, focus on cutting-edge interdisciplinary studies, and establish a long-term mechanism for joint postgraduate training.
